Originally released in 2010 on the Wii, the fusion of sci-fi and fantasy RPG "Xenoblade" is reborn in vibrant colors on the Nintendo Switch. The original story, massive gameplay volume, field exploration, battle systems, and other immersive features are retained, while the graphics have been enhanced to HD quality. Some new soundtracks are included, and a brand new additional storyline has been added. The UI has also been revamped to provide a more user-friendly experience.

The story takes place on the corpses of two gods, where a kind-hearted boy embarks on a tale of revenge and creation. After a long battle, the gods of humans and machines, "Bionis" and "Mechonis," were left impaled upon each other in eternal slumber. In this world built upon the decaying bodies of these gods, the protagonist Shulk's hometown is attacked by the mysterious lifeforms called Mechon, and his childhood friend is killed. To avenge her death, Shulk takes up the Monado, the divine sword, and embarks on a grand adventure in a world where humans and machines are in conflict.

The additional storyline, "Xenoblade: Future Connected," introduces a new narrative centered around Shulk and Melia, a member of the High Entia race from the original game. This content takes place after the main story, but players can access it even if they haven't completed the original game.
