In the 2005 World Rally Championship season opener at the Monte Carlo Rally, Subaru competed with an improved version of the previous year’s Impreza WRC. Despite brake troubles in the early stages, driver Petter Solberg fought hard to finish 4th, and on the final day, he posted the fastest times on two stages, climbing to 3rd. Unfortunately, a crash in the snow ended their rally, but the Impreza proved its top-level performance with a victory in the second round, the Swedish Rally.
