Known as the Z-Car in North America due to its reasonable price, high performance, and attractive style, it gained significant popularity.

The 240ZG, introduced in November 1971 as a top-of-the-line model for the Japanese market, features an integrated aero-dynamic nose, front and rear over-fenders, and headlamp covers.
