- "Super Mario RPG," originally released 27 years ago on the Super Famicom, returns with refreshed graphics for the Nintendo Switch.
Story
- Mario sets out to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser's Castle. Just as he defeats Bowser and feels relieved, a giant sword suddenly falls from the sky. The sword pierces Bowser's Castle, and Mario, blown away by the impact, begins his quest to find Peach. Along the way, he learns that the sword has shattered the "Star Road," which grants people's wishes, scattering its fragments, the "Star Pieces," across the world. With the help of newfound allies, Mario embarks on an adventure to collect the Star Pieces and restore a peaceful world where wishes can come true.
Exploring the Fields with Jumps
- Utilize Mario's signature "Jump" action to solve puzzles and explore various fields and dungeons.
Allies on the Adventure
- Mario is joined by "Mallow," a self-proclaimed frog with a fluffy body, and "Geno," a celestial messenger who visits Mario's world to reclaim the Star Pieces. Familiar characters from the Mario series, including Bowser and Peach, also join the adventure.
Action Command Battles
- Engage in battles using "Action Command Battles," where players must time their actions during attacks and defenses. Successfully executing an action command can deal damage to all enemies or negate incoming damage. New to this installment, chaining consecutive successful action commands boosts allies' abilities, making battles more advantageous. Support is provided for beginners, with a "!" mark appearing for perfectly timed actions. Each successful action fills a gauge, and when it's full, the three active characters can unleash a special "Triple Move."
Additional Features
- After the ending, players can rematch certain bosses encountered during the adventure, which have been powered up for these battles. Other additions include a "Monster List" that records various information from battles and a "Sound Player" that allows players to listen to the soundtracks from both the Super Famicom and Nintendo Switch versions at any time (the Sound Player becomes available after completing the game). A new "Enjoy" difficulty level makes battles easier, along with support features, ensuring that even those unfamiliar with RPGs can enjoy the game.
