The protagonist, Kei Tsushima, once attended a prestigious school but dropped out due to certain circumstances. He is now attending a part-time high school. Though he has strayed from the shortest path to becoming a doctor like his parents had hoped, there is still time to turn things around. Recently, he has been questioning whether this path is right for him.

At his part-time school, Kei meets a diverse range of people he never encountered before. He realizes there is so much in the world he doesn't know. But he wonders if it's alright to go back to his old life. Does he really want to become a doctor? Is this his true purpose in life?

Amidst these thoughts, Kei receives an offer from the president of a music production company, Yagihara, to accompany and report on the band's tour he entered into a city contest. The band, Kachou Fuugetsu, once major players in the music scene, has a peculiar leader, Kazuki Hanai, who passionately argues that music is meaningless.

Confused by Hanai’s attitude, Kei attends his first live performance and is captivated by Kachou Fuugetsu's music. A few days later, Kei is devastated to hear the news of the band's breakup. Determined to understand why, Kei attempts to convince Hanai to reunite the band, but their discussions go nowhere. Every time they meet, Kei continues to ask for the band's revival, and Hanai responds:
