Set during the Taisho era, a time when Japan had embraced Western culture after the Meiji period, the country experienced significant growth. Among the prominent industries, the Miyanomori zaibatsu was one of the leading financial conglomerates, engaging in banking and trading. The head of the Miyanomori family, Genichirou Miyanomori, suddenly announced his retirement and declared that he would pass on all his wealth to one of his six sons.

Meanwhile, Haru, a girl born into poverty, had been working hard on the farm after leaving a factory job to care for her sick father. One day, her encounter with the members of the Miyanomori family drastically changes her fate.
